1. What is Non-Stick coating ?
Non-stick coating is a non-metallic finish
that is chemically bonded to the metal to create a hard,
durable surface.
In physical bonding, the surface of the pan to be coated
with PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) is roughened
by sandblasting to create a larger surface area. Its shape
gives the first coat, called a primer, some nooks and crannies
to hold on to. Then PTFE particles are embedded in
the primer, which forms a matrix for them. The coatings
are cured at high temperatures. Particles of PTFE migrate
to the surface and are shed, keeping anything else, like
a fried egg, from sticking.
